NATO PA to Hold Plenary on Final Day of Ljubljana Meeting
The five-day spring meeting of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly is to culminate on Tuesday with a plenary session. The participants are to be addressed by NATO Parliamentary Assembly President Pierre Lellouche, NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer and a number of top Slovenian officials, including PM Janez Jansa.

The spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly is starting in Ljubljana on Friday. On the margins of the session, Slovenian Foreign Minister and OSCE chairman Dimitrij Rupel is to meet Secretary General of the NATO PA Pierre Lellouche on Friday. The session will wrap up on 31 May when NATO General Secretary Jaap de Hoop Scheffer is to attend the Assembly's plenary session.

CoE Officials Examining Human Rights Protection in Slovenia
Representatives of the Council of Europe's commission for human rights are paying a visit to Slovenia this week to examine the country's protection of human rights. They are to meet with representatives of the ministries for foreign affairs, interior affairs, justice and labour, as well as government offices for minorities and the disabled, the police chief's office and Ombudsman Matjaz Hanzek.

Rupel on a three-day visit to Canada
Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel, who is also the OSCE chairman, is scheduled to begin a three-day working visit to Canada. As part of the visit he will be taking part in the 7th ministerial meeting of the Human Security Network. He is also scheduled to meet top Canadian officials. On the first day of his stay, Rupel is to speak about the role of the OSCE in Europe at the Canadian Foreign Ministry.

PM Janez Jansa and FM Dimitrij Rupel are to attend a two-day summit of the Council of Europe (CoE). Jansa is to take part in a plenary debate that is to examine the challenges facing European society. Rupel, who is to attend the summit as the OSCE chairman, is to take part in Tuesday's plenary on European security and sign a joint declaration on cooperation between the CoE and OSCE. Jansa is to hold talks with the Croatian delegation at the sidelines of the summit.

As is custom, the session is to begin with questions time. However, Prime Minister Janez Jansa will not be on hand to answer opposition questions as he is due in Warsaw for a summit of the Council of Europe today. Instead, ministers will be on hand for questions from all parties today.
